3. Reasons why it is difficult to control spider mites:

• They are not insects, most insecticides are ineffective against them;

• They have diverse morphologies, large reproduction coefficients, and overlapping generations. There are four morphologies on one leaf at the same time and there are few miticides that are highly effective and quick-acting for all four morphologies;

• They are small and concealed, so acaricides are difficult to contact with them;

•  There are many miticides on the market for controlling spider mites, and farmers lack the relevant knowledge to use them correctly, which further increases the resistance;

• Market behavior factors. The outbreak of harmful mites will cause serious losses, and growers hate it. Therefore, pesticide manufacturers add recessive ingredients to seize the market, and distributors are worried that the product is not effective enough, so they directly promote the compound acaricide, which greatly accelerates the resistance of spider mites;

• The red spider's skin is covered with back hair, which can effectively block the contact of pesticides with its skin, and resist the attack of predator mites and other natural enemies.

4. Advantages

• Spirodiclofen can be used to control the eggs, larvae and nymphs of spider mites. Combining with abamectin to control adults can greatly improve the insecticidal effect and lasting period;

•  It has a wide insecticidal spectrum, which can not only control spider mites, but also has good effects on pests such as psyllids, Lepidosaphes ulmi and leafhoppers;

• It has no cross-resistance and can be used with most pesticides (except strong alkaline pesticides and copper preparations). When used together with acaricides with different action mechanisms, it can not only improve the quick-acting property of spirodiclofen, but also benefit the resistance management of mites.
